Super Stocks for 2008

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Along with the awards there was plenty of discussion of the the past season as well as what sort of things they would like to see for next year. Among the items discussed was the possible changes for next season in regards to the classes of cars that would be run. It was announced at that time that the Classic Dwarf cars would not return next year but they were looking at adding a different class to take there place next year. With the calendar year winding down the track has made the decision in
regard to that.

The 2008 season will see the return of the WISSOTA Super Stocks at Chateau. The raceway made the decision to bring back the Super Stocks after plenty of feedback from the drivers and fans. Track officials expressed there deep thanks for all those who took the time to give there input into the decision making process. The addition of the class will help make the venue at the raceway even more appealing to the race fans.

Co-promoter Darin Toot said “We are hoping with the return of the Supers, that we will see an improved race program in 2008…Our hopes are that the class will grow through the season, as the class grows, the drivers will see a better purse to race for.” Initially they will start with a three-step purse, based on car count. As the car counts improve, the purse will to. Toot added “We know this will take time for the class to grow, so we will be reviewing the progress throughout the season.” The Supers will be eligible for the WISSOTA track point fund, as they will be on the weekly venue. Along with local points available, some of the area drivers will very possibly be eligible to chase after the national points. Those National Points races will also surely bring in several drivers who travel through out the midwest chasing the National Points Title.

Along with the WISSOTA Super Stocks Chateau will once again feature, USRA Open Modifieds, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, WISSOTA Street Stocks, Chateau Pure Stocks and the Hornets. The track will once again feature Friday Night racing action with a 7:30 race time. The final touches are being put on the schedule but several specials are being planned again for next year including the “11th Annual Mike Guttormson Memorial”, visits from the “USMTS Modifieds”, and more including the fall invitationals they have added the past few years.

Toot added “Chateau Raceway wishes all a Happy Holiday Season and we will be looking forward to seeing everyone all at the annual car show at the Oak Park Mall in Austin with a tentative date of March 22nd and 23rd.” The track also announced the annual Test and Tune date will be March 29th, with the Season Opener Scheduled for April 4th.

USMTS EXPANDS “TOP DOG” PROGRAM FOR 2008

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

In each of the four regions comprising the O’Reilly USMTS National Events schedule, the top-10 in points will be guaranteed a minimum $400 payday at each event where that driver is among the top-10 in points for that region.

“Previously, the Top Dog Bonus was available only to drivers ranked among the top-10 in national points,” said USMTS Communications Director Jeff Nun. “For the past two seasons, however, we have made it a priority to offer better compensation to local drivers who do not have the resources to travel the entire 50-plus-race national tour, but want to test their skills against the best drivers in their area of the country. Instead of 10, as many as 40 different drivers could now rake in at least $400 every time they compete at an O’Reilly USMTS race.”

As with each of the four regions, the Top Dog Bonus will also be in effect for those drivers who qualify for The Hunt for the O’Reilly USMTS National Championship, which will be comprised of the final 15 to 18 races of the season.

New for this season, USMTS officials have also expanded the Top Dog Bonus to drivers in the USMTS Southern Series. The guarantee for USMTS Southern Series drivers will be a minimum of $300 for those among the top-10 in points and $200 for drivers ranked 11th through 15th in the current standings.

The Fine Print: Drivers must have perfect attendance in the region or USMTS Southern Series where the event is held. Once a driver misses a single race in a particular region or the USMTS Southern Series, that driver is no longer eligible for the Top Dog Bonus in that region or USMTS Southern Series. The Top Dog Bonus will take effect beginning with the third race in each region or the USMTS Southern Series.

The USMTS will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary Season in 2008 with many special promotions to show thanks to the fans, drivers, team members, families and sponsors who have helped make the USMTS the premier dirt modified series in the nation. More announcements about the 2008 season will be forthcoming over the next few weeks.

For the fifth straight year, the O’Reilly USMTS National Events schedule will kick off with a doubleheader at the state-of-the-art Junction Motor Speedway. The 5th Annual Nebraska Spring Thaw is slated for Friday and Saturday, March 7-8, 2008. Friday’s event will pay $2,000 to win while the victor in Saturday’s main event will pocket $3,000. More than 70 entries are once again expected for the annual lidlifter at the 3/8-mile high-banked clay oval in McCool Junction, Neb.
