Eric Cooley Set For NeSmith Opener at Talladega

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Fulton, MS (12/28/08) – After a 2008 season that ended only two weeks ago, there will be on rest for the weary as Eric Cooley will begin his pursuit of the 2009 NeSmith Late Model Series title this weekend, January 1st-4th at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama in the 18th Annual Ice Bowl.

Eric wrapped up the 2008 season December 12th-13th at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibstonton, Florida in the Crate Racing USA World Finals, which was a non-points event for the NeSmith Late Models. Eric got behind the eight ball on Friday night as he struggled in time trials, which pinned him deep in his heat race. The track lended itself to minimal passing in heat race
action, which resulted in Eric starting mid-pack in a consolation race on Saturday night. He would fall just short of transferring from his b-main into the main event on Saturday night, which brought his weekend to an early end.

Overall, the team had a successful year as they visited several facilities for the first time with the NeSmith Late Model Series. Despite missing an early season event with the NeSmith tour due to a family vacation, Eric still managed to finish 7th in final standings and 3rd in the NeSmith Rookie of the Year chase. During the course of the season Eric competed in a total of 44 events, including Crate and Late Model Stock events. Cooley recorded 8 wins, 22 top five finishes, and 30 top ten finishes.

In 2009, Eric will once again purse the NeSmith Late Model Series National title, and his pursuit will begin this weekend in the 18th Annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track Track. Open Practice Sessions for the NeSmith Late Models will be held on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, January 3rd, time trials and heat race action will be held. On Sunday, January 4th,
consolation events and the 40 lap, $3,000 to win main event will be held. For more information please visit; or

Eric and everyone at Cooley Motorsports would like to thank all of their sponsors, which include Tiffin Motorhomes (Red Bay, AL), 78 Towing Recovery Inc., Cooley Transport Inc., Searcy Tires (Cherokee, AL), Twisted Designs (Fayette, AL), D&D Trade (Fulton, MS),, and Simpson Race Products.

Kyle Beard Opens 2009 at 18th Annual Ice Bowl

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Trumann, AR (12/28/08) -Kyle Beard and Beard Motorsports will get an early start to the 2009 season as the team travels to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama for the 18th Annual Ice Bowl on January 1st-4th, 2009.

The 2008 season started slowly for Beard Motorsports as the team was plagued by bad luck. However, by April things started to pick up for the team, and Kyle found his way into victory lane for the first time in May. Beard would go on to pick up four feature wins, 13 top five finishes, and 24 top ten finishes in 45 events during the course of the 2008 season. Despite missing
events with both tours due to schedule conflicts, Kyle managed to finish fifth in the final O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model point standings, and he recorded a 2nd place finish in the final AMP Super Late Model point standings.

With a strong finish to the 2008 campaign, Kyle is eager to get the 2009 season underway, and he won’t waste anytime as he will spend New Year’s Day traveling to Talladega Short Track for the 18th Annual Ice Bowl. Kyle competed in the event in 2008. After bad luck in his heat race, pinned him deep in a b-main, he charged his way to the front of the pack and recorded a
3rd place finish. Unfortunately only the top two cars transferred to the feature, so Kyle’s weekend came to an early end. He will be looking for redemption this weekend behind the wheel of his #86 GRT By Frye/Samuels Performance Racing Engine Super Late Model. An open practice session will be held on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the actual event gets underway
with time trials and heat race action. On Sunday, triple consolation events will be held along with the $6,000 to win feature event. For more information on the event, please visit

Race fans make sure to stop by the Beard Motorsports hauler this weekend to purchase one of Kyle’s new t-shirts!

Kyle Beard would like to thank his sponsors including KB Transport, Gary Beard Trucking, Samuel’s Performance Engines, Engines Inc., Mean Street Motors, Inc., JFR Graphics, Bill Frye Motorsports, and Marketing Services. Beard Motorsports is always looking for more sponsors, and anyone, who may be interested, can find more information

Bobby Grigas III Teams Up With Crew Chief Kevin Crowley Goal is Victory Lane on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

CONCORD, NC (December 23, 2008) – Bobby Grigas III keeps coming close to getting to victory lane on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The young driver has the talent to win and the equipment to lead him to the front, but the Tour is one of the most competitive forms of racing out there, and to win you need to have every piece of the puzzle fitting just correctly.

Now, as he heads into the 2009 season, Grigas feels that he has put together that final piece that can turn him into a Tour winner in crew chief Kevin Crowley. The veteran Modified wrench will join Grigas’ #09 team immediately. Crowley comes to the
team along with a number of experienced and dedicated crew members as one big package.

“Last year, I had a few ups and downs,” said Grigas. “Our problem was that we didn’t have a guy who could make the calls to win. I think now this will be the final piece to the puzzle for at least a victory. We have a whole team together now. I now have a crew who can change tires as fast as anyone on the Tour. I’m excited and now I can finally show people what I can do.”

The Grigas/Crowley pairing will make their competitive debut together during February’s World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway (FL).

“We’re going down to New Smyrna to get acquainted with each other,” said Grigas. “I’ll learn how he sets up the cars and he’ll learn how I drive them. It should be a good experience down there.”

And good experiences are exactly what Grigas is looking for in 2009.

“Hopefully, I’ll get one victory next season.if not more.”
