Bub McCool Records Podium Finish in Fall Classic; World Finals Next

Friday, October 31st, 2014

Vicksburg, MS – Bub McCool competed at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) over the weekend in his #57J McCool Logging/ Victory Circle/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model as he took part in the 20th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic at the 1/3 mile oval, where he came away with a podium finish.

Forty-eight Super Late Models entered the event, and a heat race victory on Friday night would position Bub starting third in the $15,000-to-win finale on Saturday. When the 100 lapper went green, McCool raced around the top five for much of the event before ultimately registering a third place finish behind race winner, Randy Weaver and Chris Simpson. Mike Marlar and Billy Moyer rounded out the top five finishers.

“I thought there for a while that we might have something for the leaders, but then I drove it into the wall late in the race, which killed any chances I had of winning,” said McCool. “Either way this is my best finish ever in this big event, so I’m definitely happy about that.”

Full results from the event are available at www.WhynotMotorsportsPark.com .

McCool’s next scheduled race is a trip to the 8th Annual World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte (Charlotte, North Carolina) on November 6th-8th. He is scheduled to pilot the Chad Stapleton Racing #32 Barry Wright Super Late Model in the World of Outlaws (WoO) event. Thursday night will find two rounds of qualifying held, while Friday and Saturday night will see a pair of $12,000-to-win events contested. Central Missouri Speedway Championship Banquet Fast Approaching!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2014

(Warrensburg, MO) Friday, October 31st marks the final day to RSVP for the upcoming CMS 2014 Season Championship Banquet. CMS looks forward to seeing everyone at the banquet at the Courtyard by Marriott Adams Pointe Conference Center in Blue Springs, Missouri, on Saturday, November 15th at 6 p.m.

The track will honor champions and additional top-performing drivers in each of the weekly racing divisions. For tickets or additional information please contact Susan Walls at 816-229-1338 or Karen Darling at 660-229-0952 during business hours weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Several loads of new dirt were recently added to the track surface, ultimately raising the track surface over one foot throughout the speedway. Promoter Earl Walls stated, “We added several loads of dirt to the surface and track maintenance man Don Abney has been busy working the new dirt into the track and will continue working through the off-season as weather permits. The track is shaping up nicely and we are happy with the way things are turning out so far.”

Abney also put several hours’ worth of work into raising the pit area and smoothing things out. Drivers will see a noticeable difference in the pits and the area in which the cars enter the track, where improvements were made for the cars to enter the track at a reasonable angle, which should eliminate some of the problems with cars entering in the past.

The CMS crew recently held its first pre-season meeting to discuss the 2015 schedule and some minor rules changes for the Street Stock and Pure Stock divisions. These changes as well as an updated preview schedule will be released in the coming weeks. The initial 2015 building schedule is already available on the CMS web site. The track will follow USRA rules for Modifieds and B-Mods and will sanction the “A” Modified class under the USRA banner.

Last season’s “Guest Class” format received favorable reaction from both drivers and fans and the track will use that concept again next season as an addition to its four “Weekly Championship” divisions, which ware USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Pure Stocks. At least six dates have been penciled in for ULMA late models with other guest classes being looked at such as Lightning Sprints and Midgets.

A pre-season registration and rules review meeting is scheduled in Warrensburg at the ABC Building on the grounds of Grover Park from 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, January 24th. Johnson Leads Southwest Sprints to Arizona Speedway

Wednesday, October 29th, 2014

Arizona Speedway is the next target for USAC’s Southwest Sprint Cars as drivers R.J. Johnson, Josh Pelkey and Charles Davis Jr. continue their battle for supremacy in one of America’s most hotly-contested motorsports series.

All three combatants have fared well at the one-third dirt oval at ET Motopark southeast of Phoenix. Johnson has three wins, a fourth and a fifth in the five previous appearances there. Pelkey has a win, a second, two thirds and a sixth, while Davis has a win, two seconds and two fourths.

Johnson’s point lead stands at 116 points over Pelkey so his position at the top of the standings won’t change Saturday, but the margin could. A total of 74 points are available at each event and, with four points races remaining on the 2014 calendar, things could change quickly.

The series competes in a “non-points” special event November 6 at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway before closing with three point races at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. November 20-21-22.
