KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 30) – More than 70 IMCA Modified race teams are already signed up for the Tuesday, July 5 Harris Clash special at Knoxville Raceway.
NASCAR favorite Ken Schrader is among the pre-entries, as are former race winners Jay Note boom of Hinton (2009), Clayton Christensen of Spencer (2007) and Johnny Saathoff of Beatrice, Neb. (2001).
The 20th annual event pays a minimum of $2,000 to win. Bonuses of $500 will be paid to the win ner if their chassis manufacturer is an event sponsor and to the leader at midway, putting the poten tial first place share of the purse at $3,000.
Thirty cars will start the 30-lap main event, which will be stopped for a five minute competition yellow after 15 laps have been scored.
The Harris Clash is a qualifying event for the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and IMCA national, home region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded to all competitors.
Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m., the draw closes at 6 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:15 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $8 for students ages 13-18, $4 for kids ages 6-12 and free for youngsters five and under. Pit passes are $25 and no one under the age of 16 will be allowed in the pit area.
Night two of the Clash is Tuesday, July 26 and features the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models in a $2,000 to win event, along with Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, in a $750 to win race.
