Ashland, WI,– It was rain from the skies, not the dirt on the ground, that forced officials at the ABC Raceway to again cancel their 2015 stock car racing season opener on Saturday night.
The program, to have been jointly presented by the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Northern State Bank, was wiped out when a huge storm front moved in and dumped rain on a track that the Raceway’s crews worked overtime on to prepare during the previous week.
Fans will now have to wait for Saturday, June 13, for the start of the season at the award-winning three-eighths-mile red clay oval. The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds will take center stage for their “Mid-Mod Madness” event, to be presented by Outlaw Graphics of Ashland and Northern Wisconsin Fence of Phillips. The full program will include the WISSOTA-sanctioned Modifieds and Super Stocks and the track’s own Six-Cylinders and Pure Stocks for heat and feature action.
Hot laps will begin at 6:15 pm, and the first green flag of the season is scheduled to be thrown at 7. Adult tickets are just $10 each, and kids ages 12 and under admitted free with a paid adult admission. “Z-93 Race Night” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
