$1,500-to-Win Street Stocks this Saturday at Central Missouri Speedway!

(Warrensburg, MO) Action returns to Central Missouri Speedway this Saturday in all classes for 610 Sports Radio and Pepsi race night, headlined by the annual $1,500-to-Win Street Stock track special event. Joining Street Stocks on the event card will be $1,000-to-Win weekly USRA Modifieds, Midwest Mod-Lites, USRA B-Mods, and Pure Stocks for a full night of racing.

During the first half of the season, drivers treated fans to spectacular racing. The second half of the season at CMS looks much the same with weekly championship racing and special events dotting the landscape just two weeks removed from the annual special events surrounding Independence Day weekend.

The payout for the 25-lap Street Stock special event is: 1st $1,500, 2nd $1,000, 3rd $600, 4th $500, 5th $400, 6th $300, 7th $250, 8th $225, 9th $200, 10th $175, 11th to 14th $150, 15th $130, 16th to 24th $125. For CMS track-registered Street Stock drivers, the entry fee is $50, for non-registered drivers, the entry fee is $75. For visiting Street Stock drivers, CMS is waving the track registration fee so all the drivers have is their entry fee and pit pass on race night.

Last weekend former Street Stock track champion, Brett Wood, of Warrensburg moved back to the top of the standings after recording his first feature win of the season. Along with Wood, Marc Carter, Bobby Ruff, and Jay Prevete have also captured main events this year. Clayton Campbell leads in the main-event wins’ category with six on the season.

With a hefty purse and bragging rights on the line plus drivers likely interested in competing at CMS prior to this Fall’s Street Stock Showdown hoping to turn laps on the track, the Street Stock field should be full of talent as drivers aim for the coveted victory.

The race order will change slightly for this weekend’s action. Pure Stocks and B-Mods will open the program as they normally do; however, Street Stocks will roll out third in line swapping with the Midwest Mod-Lites who will run fourth in the program, then followed by the USRA ‘Mighty’ Modifieds to close out the night.

Heading into the second half of the season, some great point’s battles are taking shape. In the highly competitive USRA Modifieds, Jim Moody has a narrow ten-point lead over Terry Schultz. Wood leads Campbell by 31 markers in Street Stocks. In Midwest Mod-Lite action, Dillon Raffurty leads the way over Tonganoxie, Kansas driver Travis Alexander. On the USRA B-Mod front, defending champion Jacob Ebert appears on course to defend his title as he leads a consistent Cody Frazon while in the Pure Stocks Rodger Detherage, also a defending champion shows the way over Larry Norris, the most recent Pure Stock main event winner.

On Saturday, July 15th, pit gates will open at 4:30, grandstands at 5, driver pill draw closes at 6:15. Warning: late drivers will not be awarded passing points. Call the track report line on race day at 660-747-2166 if something prevents you from arriving on time. The pit meeting takes place at 6:30, hot laps roll out at 7:00 and racing begins at 7:30.

As we do with each special event, we hope that new drivers will come and check things out at CMS for themselves; however, CMS officials highly encourage visiting and new drivers to familiarize themselves with how things work at the track. CMS moves its show along very swiftly and enforces its general rules and car class rules, which are conveniently located on the track’s website at www.centralmissourispeedwya.net. For rules, hover over the “Rules” icon on the main page and select the applicable document needed. “I didn’t know” does not fly at CMS.

Special Events pricing will be in effect on July 15th. General admission adults $15, Military w/I.D. and Seniors 65 to 74 $12, kids ages six to twelve $5, five years and under are free, seniors 75 and older are also free. Seniors 80 and older may receive free pit admission courtesy of promoter Earl Walls, who recently celebrated his own 80th birthday in 2017! Pit passes for anyone entering the pits up to age 79 are $35. There will be no private vehicles allowed in the pits on Saturday, only race cars and haulers are permitted.

In just a few weeks, CMS will host one of the most anticipated nights of the year with the annual “Kid’s Night at the Races” on Saturday, August 5th. CMS is currently seeking donations to make for an unforgettable night for the participating kids ages toddler to 12 years. Donations of bikes, backpacks, school supplies, hero cards, t-shirts, business coupons, and various small-sized treats are requested. CMS will also take monetary donations for the event, funds will be used to purchase school supplies to stuff the backpacks and goodie bags with to ensure every child on hand goes home with a bag and plenty of chances to win additional prizes. Donations may be dropped off on the pit side of the speedway to anyone working in the pit entrance office.

Although it seems too early to think about fall racing, October will be here before a blink of an eye and this year CMS has one additional huge event planned for Friday, October 20th and Saturday, October 21st for the first annual ‘Triple SSS at CMS’ Street Stock Showdown. Drivers will gun for a $5,000 payday on the hollowed grounds of CMS over this two-day event. USRA B-Mods are also part of the program each night. You can find all you need to know for the Triple SSS weekend on the CMS website under the heading of Street Stock Showdown Headquarters at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.
