Kason Plott Scores Top Ten Finish in Second SLM Race

Pensacola, Florida- Georgia Native Kason Plott competed in his second Super Late Model race this past weekend at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. The race, which was also his second start with the Southern Super Series, boasted one of the most competitive fields in Super Late Model racing. At the end of the night, Plott walked away with his first career top 10 finish.

Plott had a great qualifying run at the Florida based half-mile after posting an eighth-place time. He improved on that starting position by one spot in the feature when he finished seventh.

“We felt great about it. Improved from the first race and happy for how we performed,” Kason said.

While each race is a learning experience for the young driver, he felt that this last weekend’s race was one he took a lot away from. Plott credits his crew for giving him a car that allowed him to build and learn.

“I learned a lot this last race because I had a great handling car,” he said. “The first race I learned a little but the car didn’t handle well in the race.”

Kason competed alongside his older brother Kyle Plott who is normally a strong competitor in the Southern Super Series. Kyle was shaking out the bugs of a new car which set Kason up to finish in front of his older brother.

“I wouldn’t say I have bragging rights since I beat him,” the younger Plott joked. “He had a good car just he didn’t qualify as good as he should’ve and he got behind.”

With a strong finish in the books Plott and his team are gearing up for the rest of the season as they have made the decision to run the remainder of the Southern Super Series schedule. Next up will be a visit to Mobile Speedway in Mobile, Alabama on August 19.

“I am looking forward to running the Southern Super Series races at Mobile, Cordele and Five Flags. None of this would be possible without Rhino Hitch Cat Recovery Service, EPM Performance and Roger Atkins.”
