Hazard, Kentucky – On Tuesday night Eric Wells ended a winless skid that went back to November 2016. The pilot of the Wells Motorsports #18 Longhorn Chassis/ Cornett Race Engine streaked to the $5,000 win with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series at the high banks of Tennessee’s Tazewell Speedway.
“I told my guys before we went out, I was going to try to maintain for about 20 (laps), then give it what I had for the last 20,” Eric Wells said. “Because last time we were here, we got the lead and I overworked my tires and we ended up fifth. We made notes and learned from it. It seems like forever since we’ve been to Victory Lane, but tonight we got it done.”
Eric Wells invaded Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee) on Tuesday night for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series sanctioned program. Recording the fourth-fastest time in a field of 19 cars, Wells earned the fourth-starting position for the A-Main.
Slipping past race-leader Brian Smith on lap-19, Eric Wells distanced himself from the field in the remaining 19 circuits to capture his first win of the season and a $5,000 payday.
Brian Smith, David Payne, Chicky Barton, and Clyde Overholt rounded out the Top-5 finishers in the 40-lap affair.
