(Jennerstown,PA) Saturday night, the heroes of decades-gone-by will reunite at the Jennerstown Speedway Complex, as FFX Trucking presents “Motor Mountain Mania” stock car racing. Former Champions, former winners, plus current and past Hall of Fame inductees will sign autographs, pose for photos, and greet race fans prior to the start of five division racing action, at 6pm.
“Chargin’ Charlie” Cragan will be among the previous Champions in attendance on Saturday. While Cragan was a winning driver during the dirt track era of Jennerstown Speedway, he is best known for his dominating performances on the asphalt surface, during the early 1990’s. Cragan won 37 times after the speedway was paved, and earned Track Champion titles in 1992 and 1993. Cragan was also honored as a NASCAR Northeast Region Champion, as driver of the Biter Brothers Racing Team #42. Mark Cottone, the 1998 Jennerstown Champion will also meet fans before the races on September 8th. A winner 19 times, Cottone was competing more recently than Cragan, but also claimed a 4-Cylinder Division Championship in the earlier stages of his career (1988). Larry Wright will be among the honored guests, as well. Wright was a superstar of the dirt track era, and one of the biggest winners at Jennerstown during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Famous for his red and white Fords #31, Wright will be touring the asphalt oval for the first time during the “Arsenberger Trucking Legends Salute.” Other former winners that will be part of the on track race car parade include “Snooky” Williams, Bill Krause, and Larry Hemminger. Dan White and Bob Arsenberger will also participate in this special event.
The 2018 Tri-Star Motors Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will also take place Saturday night. On this special night each year, many former inductees attend to congratulate the newest class. The 2018 class of inductees includes: Dirt track era superstars Ed Lynch, Sr., Paul Fess, Sr., and Jerry Price. Recently retired asphalt era star Bobby Henry and engine builder “Rocket Rick” Koontz will also be enshrined. The late Jack Sotosky will also be inducted. Sotosky’s career was a true “bridge,” between the dirt and asphalt chapters of the Jennerstown Speedway story. A successful dirt Late Model racer in the 1970’s, Sotosky went on to win the asphalt Street Stock Championship, in 1993, during the late stages of his career.
Free admission for all CDL drivers and one guest each, is being provided by FFX Trucking on September 8th, as well. “National Truck Drivers Appreciation Week” starts on September 9th, and FFX is proud to offer all drivers with a valid CDL (any state) complimentary admission to see the racing action on this special Saturday night, launching the week of recognition one day early.
Gates open at 4pm on Saturday, with the Legends Autograph Session scheduled to start at 5:30pm. Racing will commence at 6pm.
