As a way to kick off their newly formed group the Stock
Four drivers will be selling straw hats at the speedway on Saturday
September 1st during the autograph session with all proceeds going to the
North Wellington Bravehearts Special Olympics Team. A good number of the
Special Olympic athletes from the area attend the track each week and the
drivers thought it would be a great way to repay them for there support of
In Stock Four action it was Clark Hartman from Waterloo who put on the show
this night on the track not only taking the feature but both of his heats.
Second in the feature went to Lance Hotchkiss of Varney and John Ince of
Grand Valley was third. Other heat winners were Jason Ahlborn of Mono Mills
and Todd Loughnan of Chatsworth.
Street Stock action saw Bill Cole of Hanover take the checked flag driving
for Gary Atkinson after late race engine problems forced Ray Flynn from
Clinton to the infield. Second went to Chad Eden of Varney with third going
to Wayne Thompson of Hanover. Heat winners were Kevin Bushell from
Kincardine, Dean Martin from Brussels, along with Flynn and Thompson.
Super Street action also saw another fill in driver make his way to victory
circle as Lance Sullivan from Cambridge claimed top prize for Scott Way of
Fergus. Dwight Roxburgh from Grand Valley was second with Pam Chagnon from
Clinton coming in third. Heat wins where scored by Rob Brown from
Priceville with two, Sullivan and Desboro’s Trevor Witzke.
Varney Limited Late Model action saw a few less cars on the track this week
do to holidays and repairs but the action was nothing less then exciting.
Jason McLellan of Mount Forest took home the hardware this week returning to
his winning ways. Second went to Monty Kelly from Mitchell with third going
to Jason Ritchie from Southampton. Charles Embro from Hanover and Kelly
were the heat winners.
In the Mini Truck class with only three nights left in their schedule it was
Tyler Bell from Kitchener taking the nine horsepower class followed by Josh
Stade of Chesley and Bobby Peg of London. In the thirteen horsepower class
it was Trevor Thompson from Elmira taking the checker with second place
going to Vanessa Stade from Chesley.
The Train Class saw repairs made this past week to a number of Trains which
made for a full track in the feature. When it was all over it was the
Markdale Selvage Crushers from Owen Sound out front followed by the Steve
Schnurr team out of Rockford second and the Car-azy Canucks from Fordwich
coming in third. Heat winners were Markdale Selvage Crushers and The Train
Wreck from Ayton.
The next racing action is Saturday August 25th at 7 PM with Stock Fours,
Street Stocks, Super Streets, Varney Limited Late Models and the Trains.
