SUPR Late Model Race Rescheduled for May 9th, Mother’s Day Weekend at Monroe Motor Speedway

April 18th, 2009

Monroe, LA – Due to the high percentage of rain this Saturday, 70%, the SUPR Late Model race was postponed.

“We did not want the teams to come all the way here just to be cancelled due to rain so we have moved the date to May 9th,” said General Manager Rusty Marcus.

All regular division racing is a GO for Saturday right now but we really want the best weather we can get when the SUPR Late Models come to town.

Remember, Saturday, May 9th – SUPR Late Models and all our regular Monroe Motor Speedway divisions.

See ya Saturday, April 18th, at the track.

SUPR Tests at Monroe Motor Speedway

March 17th, 2009

Monroe, LA-The O’Reilly SUPR (Southern United Professional Racing) Late Models made a stop in Monroe today to do some tire and set-up testing. The series will get back in to action next Saturday, March 14th as they travel to the Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas. They finish out their season on November 12-14th as they roll in to the Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Mississippi for the Jambalaya 100.

The series goes non-stop racing on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, but wanted to take make time to come and test. They want to make sure the basically dirt track cars will be ready for racing when they come to Monroe on April 18th. Officials with SUPR said there should be some 30 plus cars coming to Monroe to compete. From that, some 20-25 cars will be in the feature race. From what was seen today it will be a feature to watch. Some of the car times today were very impressive and officials from Monroe Speedway were really excited as to what they saw and are excited that SUPR is bringing their series to Monroe on April 18th.

SUPR started in 1990 by racer and promoter Donald Watson, and by former owner of Boothill Speedway, Roxy Dancy. SUPR has grown from the initial campaign of 15 races at five tracks in two states to 2001′s schedule of 34 races at 16 facilities in seven states. SUPR celebrated its tenth year anniversary in 1999 with the addition of O’Reilly Auto Parts as title sponsor for the series.

SUPR is primarily geared toward tracks in Louisiana and Texas, but has expanded into Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas over the years. Baton Rouge, Louisiana Raceway is the home track for the series, but Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Miss., Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas and I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. are key fixtures on the series. Monroe Motor Speedway has been added to this year’s list of tracks.

Some drivers possibly coming on April 18th are: Rob Litton, Kevin Sitton, James Ward, Howard Willis, David Ashley, Lee Davis, Kurt Kile, Allen Tippen, Rusty Cummings, Ray Moore, Jeremy Grady, Patrick Daniel, Jeff Chandler, Kevin Kline, Doug Ingalls, Kyle Cummings, Kenny Merchant, Jon Mitchell, and John Anderson.

It will truly be an event you do not want to miss, so mark your calendars for April 18th to be at the Monroe Motor Speedway to see some fast Late Model racing.

Bad Luck Strikes McCool at Baton Rouge; Greenville Up Next

October 30th, 2007

McCool started 4th in the feature at Baton Rouge and rocketed into the lead
at the drop of the green flag. Bub would maintain the top spot for the next
several laps as he battled tooth and nail with second place runner, Kenny
Merchant. However, Bub’s luck would take a turn for the worst on lap 41
when a lapped car unexpectedly shot down the track into McCool. The ensuing
melee eliminated Bub and Kenny Merchant. The damage sustained in the
incident would bring McCool’s night to a very disappointing end as he would
fall nine laps short of his second O’Reilly S.U.P.R. triumph of the season
and of his career.

This weekend McCool Motorsports will enter the unsanctioned $2,500 to win,
Gumbo Nationals event at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Mississippi.
The event gets underway with qualifying and heat race action on Friday
night. On Saturday night, a dash, consolation event, and feature event will
be held on the tacky, gumbo ¼ mile. For more information on the event,
please visit www.GreenvilleSpeedway.net.

Don’t forget that McCool Motorsports has recently received their brand new
t-shirts, and they can be purchased at the team’s hauler this weekend and
every race weekend for the remainder of 2007. To view the shirts, please
