Chris Ferguson Takes a $5,300 Win with the Rebel Yell; FALS Next

July 28th, 2016

Mt. Holly, North Carolina – Chris Ferguson overcame adversity on Friday night to find his way into victory lane on Saturday night in his Champion Spark Plugs #22 Longhorn Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model in the annual Rebel Yell at Screven Motor Speedway. The victory was worth $5,300.

Going into battle with the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Old Man’s Garage, Chris Ferguson visited Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Georgia) on Friday night. After posting the fastest time in a field of 31 cars, Ferguson started outside front row in the feature alongside Hunter Peacock for the feature. Suffering a flat left-front tire while leading the $5,300-to-win A-Main, Chris ultimately was credited with a 10th-place finish.

The following night brought 26 cars to Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) for the $5,300-to-win Rebel Yell, where Ferguson looked for redemption from the previous night’s bad luck. Leading the final 18 laps of the feature event, Ferguson stormed to his fifth win of the season over Brent Dixon, Dennis Franklin, Casey Roberts, and Donald Bradsher.

“It was a fun race. Any time you get to run door-to-door like we did and then split each other, somebody on the top, somebody on the middle and bottom, it was just awesome,” Ferguson said. “In the mid-part of the race when we were in third and they were running around that bottom and I had harder tire on so I kinda couldn’t get down there, I didn’t know if I was going to win. It was just fun to race like that and come out and actually be the winner. It’s definitely redemption from last night, and that makes it even better.”

Complete results from these events can be found at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com.

Chris Ferguson is now eagerly anticipating the upcoming weekend, July 29-30, as he will make his first-ever trip to Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) to compete in the 27th annual Prairie Dirt Classic at the historic bullring. Action opens on Friday night with prelims and the 2nd Annual FALS Draw. Saturday night includes consolation events as well as the $27,000-to-win finale. Shane Clanton Opens WoOLMS Title Defense with Win; Volusia Next

February 16th, 2016

Zebulon, Georgia -Shane Clanton lifted the lid on the 2016 World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series (WoOCLMS) with a victory in his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model at Screven Motor Speedway.

Shane traveled to Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) on Friday night for the two-day, Winter Freeze VI. Drawing 46 Super Late Models, Shane earned a front row starting spot for his heat after timing in 2nd quick in his group. Cruising to a 10-lap heat race win, Clanton earned the 6th-starting spot for the main event. Working his way to the front by lap 13, Shane Clanton made his move with a daring, three-wide pass over Jason Covert and Josh Richards to take the lead with 27 laps remaining. With $8,000 on the line, Shane held on for his first victory of the 2016 season with Josh Richards, Brian Shirley, Brandon Overton, and Jason Covert rounding out the top five.

On Saturday evening the ante increased to $10,000-to-win. Preliminary results left Clanton starting 15th on the grid for the 50 lap finale. Bad luck struck early in the event, when the Georgia racer was collected in a melee. He was able to rejoin the tail of the field, but was only able to muster a 15th place finish.

“The weekend couldn’t have started any better on Friday night with the win, but Saturday was definitely a struggle,” noted Clanton. “It goes that way sometimes though, and now we’ll just look ahead to Volusia. Hopefully we can dominate that deal again this year like we did last year.”

Shane is fourth in the initial WoOCLMS standings, just twelve markers removed from the lead. Full results are available atwww.WoOLMS.com.

Attention now shifts to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida), where Shane will enter six events, which will be held as a part of the 45 Annual DIRTcar Nationals. Spanning February 15-20, the week starts with a pair of $7,000-to-win, UMP DIRTcar Late Model events on Monday and Tuesday before the winner’s purse is increased to $10,000 on Wednesday. Thursday through Friday find a trio of $10,000-to-win, World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series events held. For more information on the events, please visitwww.DIRTcarNationals.com .

Shane Clanton Wins WoO Thriller at Screven; BRP Up Next

February 12th, 2015

Zebulon, Georgia – Shane Clanton enjoyed a memorable outing in his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model on Saturday night during the finale of the 5th Annual Winter Freeze at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia). Clanton ended a 66-race winless streak with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series in dramatic fashion with his $10,000 triumph over Steve Casebolt.

“We worked awful hard here (to get back to victory lane),” said Clanton. “It’s very emotional. My wife and little baby (Gunnar) are back in the pit area, and my son Ryan and my father-in-law. It’s been a long time. I’m wore out now.” He concluded by saying, “I have to say a special thanks to Weldbank Energy, Hornburg Oil, Penn Gold Well Services, VP Racing Fuels, Clements Racing Engines, Capital Race Cars, and all of my great sponsors for standing behind me.”

In preliminary action, Shane posted the fastest lap of his group which earned him the pole position for his heat race. Clanton dominated heat race action, winning by more than two-seconds over his nearest competitor. The top two finishers from each heat race were sent to the redraw for the 50 lap finale where Shane was the recipient of the fourth starting spot.

Clanton rode in third for much of the main event until the race’s only caution flag, on lap 41, restacked the field and allowed Clanton to mount one final charge. Shane took second from Brandon Overton on lap 48 before driving under race leader, Steve Casebolt down the backstretch on the final circuit. Clanton slid into the lead entering turn three and took the checkered flag for his 21st career WoO victory ahead of Casebolt, Overton, Billy Moyer and Casey Roberts.

Clanton finished fifth one night earlier in the WoO season opener, and on Thursday night he finished seventh in an unsanctioned $5,000-to-win at the 3/8 mile oval.

Shane is currently second in the latest WoO standings. Full results and complete standings are available atwww.WoOLMS.com.

The team will be idle for a few days before returning to action at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) with a trio of events on February 13th-15th. On Friday evening a $5,000-to-win, UMP event will be contested, while Saturday and Sunday’s program will be highlighted by $10,000-to-win races.
