Angola, Indiana–After a very exciting race at the legendary high-banks of Winchester Speedway (IN) over the Labor Day Holiday Weekend, the Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour will be right back in action just six days later on a special Sunday afternoon, September 13th. The ICAR contingent will make their first appearance in 12 years to the 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked, circular shaped paved oval of Columbus Motor Speedway (OH) located southeast of Columbus in Obetz, Ohio.
The ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour will be on hand with the final Northern VS Southern Division combination race of the 2015 racing season, the Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales 50 Presented by One Call Lawn Care. This race will also mark the tours first appearance at the Nuckles Family owned speedway sanctioned by the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in 12 years when Chris Lawson went to victory lane back on September 7th, 2003. This event is also being promoted by JVM Racing as the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will headline the afternoon with the running of the 2nd Annual Bud St. Amant Memorial 125 Presented by Oakley Blacktop.
The Entry Form for the Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales 50 Presented by One Call Lawn Care is Still Available and Due at the ICAR Home Offices in Angola, Indiana by Friday, September 11th. A strong field of weekly Columbus Modifieds competitors will be waiting for the ICAR teams in an effort to defend their home turf in what is already a long awaited and highly anticipated race between the weekly favorites as well as the Northern and Southern Division invaders.
Columbus Weekly Modifieds and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division II points’ leader, Kyle Purvis, who won the Run for the Gun 50 last October at Winchester, is eagerly awaiting the ICAR traveling invaders at his home track. The 27-year-old Purvis, who calls near-by Caledonia, Ohio home, is also in line to claim his first career Track Championship the night before on Saturday, September 12th in the tracks Season Championships.
2011 Track Champion, Shane Shirk, an infrequent ICAR competitor in years past is also waiting for the ICAR contingent to make their way to the Buckeye State capital. Five-Time and Defending Track Champion, Terry Humphrey will also look to defend the home turf as well as Buddy Townsend, Ethan Mullet, Shawn Gray and a host of other weekly stars looking at thwarting back the advances of the traveling cars and stars.
All-Time Career Leader in Wins in the 27-year history of the ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour, Brian Nester will head to the Buckeye State as the ICAR Southern Division points leader. His teammate and 2013 Tour Champion, Tim Burkett moved into second place in the season long points chase after a third place run at Winchester on Labor Day Monday. Bud Adams is third in the standings while 2014 ARCA Truck Series Champion and Batavia, Ohio native, Danny Jackson sits fourth over Howell, Michigan veteran, Greg Fullarton who round out the top five in the standings heading into this
event. Trei Deubel leads the way in the M.P.H. Promotions Rookie of the Year title chase.
This event will also serve as the Season Championship race for the ICAR North contingent who will actually end their 2015 campaign south of the series home base of Michigan in the neighboring state of Ohio. By taking the Green Flag, Clio, Michigan’s Nick Clemens will clinch the 2015 ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Northern Division Championship. Jason Parish is second in the overall standings while leading the M.P.H. Promotions Rookie of the Year title chase. However, Parish will not be on hand in the Buckeye State capital, which opens the door for another Clio, Michigan driver, Donny Matteson Jr., who must finish 10th or better to surpass Parish and claim the freshman title as well as second overall.
On Sunday, September 13th, the Pit Gates will open early in the morning at 9:30a.m. The mandatory ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour Drivers Meeting is set for 11:30a.m., as the ICAR Modifieds will have two 15 minute Practice Sessions from 12:00-12:15p.m., and again from 1:15-1:30p.m. Economy Auto Parts Qualifying will start at 2:00p.m. The Race Program will begin at 3:15p.m., with the ICAR Modifieds Last Chance Race(s), if needed.
The ICAR Top Speed Modified Tour will have one more event to close out the 2015 racing season and it’s the most prestigious race not just for ICAR, but in the entire country; The famed Run for the Gun 50 Presented by Genuine Broaster Chicken is a part of the 44th Running of the Winchester 400 Weekend on Friday-Saturday, October 9-10th at Winchester Speedway (IN).
