Norway Speedway’s Dalton Zehr Remains Atop the ASA Member Track National Championship Standings

Daytona Beach, FL – Week two of the 2013 ASA Member Track National Championship sees Norway Speedway’s Dalton Zehr remaining atop the standings. Zehr remains hot at Norway (MI) Speedway where he runs the Late Model division. The native of Daytona Beach, FL leads the standings with a 1.3453 average.

Due to a spring and summer that caused significant weather issues for many track operators, these standings are still early in the season and it is anticipated that significant change will be seen in the coming weeks.

Ryan Stiltner of Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, VA remains in second place with an average of 0.9830 as he runs the track’s Limited Late Model division. New to the standings this week and jumping over fellow State Park Speedway competitor Mark Mackesy is Ryan Hinner who sits third with an average of 0.8248 running the Super Late Models at the Wausau, WI track.

Remaining in fourth running Meridian (ID) Speedway’s Modified division is Jentry Pisca with a 0.6771 average.

Taylor Coffman of Newport (TN) Speedway remains fifth overall as he leads the track’s Late Model Sportsman division and has a 0.6562 average in the ASA Member Track National Championship standings.

Throughout the season, drivers competing in the premiere divisions at eligible ASA Member Tracks are in the running for the 2013 ASA Member Track National Championship. In order to have a chance for the national title, a driver must first win their 2013 track championship.

Speednetdirect.com, for the sixth year in a row, will tabulate the National Championship standings. Using a proprietary formula that creates an average based on wins, finishing positions, number of cars passed, car counts and events. The driver who wins their track championship and has the highest average over the other ASA Member Track champions will win the 2013 ASA Member Track National Championship.

Norway Speedway’s Dalton Zehr Sits Atop the ASA Member Track National Championship Standings

Daytona Beach, FL – For many of the ASA Member Tracks there are a number of drivers flexing their muscles as ASA debuted its 2013 ASA Member Track National Championship with Norway Speedway’s Dalton Zehr atop the standings.

Zehr is off to a quick start at Norway Speedway where he runs the track’s Late Model division and has him atop the ASA National Championship standings with an average of 0.8793. Born and raised in Daytona Beach, FL, Zehr is making a name for himself in the upper Midwest where he also runs the Tundra Super Late Model Series.

Norway Speedway, located in Norway, MI, is a third-mile oval track that is slightly banked. The track, originally built a dirt track in 1942, was blacktopped in 1979. Racing is held on Friday evenings from Mid-May through Labor Day weekend when the champions are crowned during the fair.

Due to a spring and summer that caused significant weather issues for many track operators, these standings are still early in the season and it is anticipated that significant change will be seen in the coming weeks.

“For many track operators it has been a tough summer dealing with inclement weather so we delayed our national championship standings to allow track’s to get some races under their belts,” said Dennis Huth, President of ASA. “This is our sixth year awarding the ASA Member Track National Championship and we look forward to an exciting battle as drivers not only go up against their respective track competitors but against all the eligible ASA Member Tracks from coast-to-coast.”

The top five in ASA Member Track National Championship standings are:

1. Dalton Zehr, Norway Speedway 0.8793
2. Ryan Stiltner, Lonesome Pine Raceway 0.7668
3. Mark Mackesy, State Park Speedway 0.6938
4. Jentry Pisca, Meridian Speedway 0.4992
5. Taylor Coffman, Newport Speedway 0.4637

Ryan Stiltner of Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, VA is also off to a quick start to his season dominating the track’s Limited Late Model division and sits second in the ASA Member Track National Championship standings at 0.7668.

Sitting third in the ASA Member Track National Championship standings is State Park Speedway’s Mark Mackesy with 0.6938 running the Super Late Models at the quarter-mile oval located outside Wausau, WI in the Town of Rib Mountain.

Running in the track’s ASA Modified division, Meridian (ID) Speedway’s Jentry Pisca ranks fourth overall in the ASA Member Track National Championship with 0.4992.

Taylor Coffman of Newport (TN) Speedway leads the track’s Late Model Sportsman division that puts him fifth in the ASA Member Track National Championship standings with 0.4637.

All drivers chasing the ASA Member Track National Championship are vying for Meridian Speedway’s Shelby Stroebel 2012 title run at the quarter-mile oval. Stroebel ran the perfect season going undefeated in the track’s ASA Modified division and his final average of 5.6121 was the largest ever in the history of the ASA Member Track National Championship giving Meridian Speedway, an original ASA Member Track, its first national title.
