Eggleston Scores Statement K&N West Win at Orange Show

May 25th, 2016

ERIE, CO– Chris Eggleston made a statement Saturday night at Orange Show Speedway. The Erie, Colorado driver returned to his winning ways and let the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West competition know that the defending champion is hungry for more. Eggleston made a late-race pass and survived a green-white-checkered finish to score his first win of the 2016 season.

“It is really special to pick up this win, as it gives us a lot of confidence moving forward. It’s not that we didn’t think we were capable of winning again, it’s just we have been growing as a team, my crew chief Ty Joiner and I have been learning how to communicate more and more and knew this win has been brewing,” said Eggleston. “Now that we got the first one out of the way, hopefully we can start clicking them off, including my home track at Colorado.” At the beginning of the weekend, Eggleston wasn’t positive his night would end in Victory Lane. After making gains during practice, he qualified his No. 99 Bill McAnally Racing Napa Filters Toyota in the third position and felt confident heading into the Sunrise Ford 150.

“When testing Friday, we certainly didn’t have a car to win, but all the guys on this Bill McAnally Racing team gave a great 50th Anniversary Napa Filters Toyota for the race,” said Eggleston. “After finishing the final practice on top of the charts, I knew we had a good car. We tried extremely hard to earn our first K&N pole but everyone struggled to get heat in the tires on this tricky 1/4 mile at Orange Show Speedway. After qualifying 3rd, we had to be extremely patient and have a lot of give and take as many drivers were eager to race hard at the drop of the green.” Eggleston held steady in the top three for much of the day. Fighting towards the front, a late race restart shuffled Eggleston back to third again, but with seven laps to go Eggleston made the pass for the lead and held on through a green-white-checkered finish to win his fourth career NASCAR K&N West Pro Series race.

“Although we never fired off great on short runs, we had a very good long run car and were able to keep it glued on the bottom all night,” said Eggleston. “We did make a late restart interesting, restarting on the top, and was able to hang on for about 5 laps before we faded again. I knew we had a really good car and felt confident we could pick our way back up to the front. The longer the green flag runs, the more confidence I had as we had the best long run car. We then had to rally back from third to take the lead late in the race to earn our first win of the season. Big thanks to Napa Filters, Napa Auto Parts, and Toyota for allowing me to chase my dreams.”

Eggleston returns to his home track of Colorado National Speedway for some Super Late Model and Legends car action on Saturday, May 28. For more information on Eggleston visit chrisegglestonracing.com.
