Riley Hickman Bags Biggest Career Win; East Tennessee Weekend Up Next

November 17th, 2014

Cleveland, Tennessee – It was a more than memorable weekend for Riley Hickman and his BIF Motorsports/Hickman Manufacturing #R1CVR Race Cars team as he claimed the richest payday of his career in the annual Deep Fried 75 at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee).

“This is just incredible to get this big win,” Hickman said in an emotional victory lane after winning his sixteenth feature of 2014. “I couldn’t have done this without the support of Urkel (Brad Carvin), my wife, kids, and my dad. He was a big inspiration for me in my career, and I know he’s smiling down from heaven proud tonight.”

A cold November weekend saw thirty-three Super Late Models converged on the 1/4 mile oval for the event, which was sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series. Hickman posted the quickest lap in his group during time trials on Friday evening to lock into the pole position for his heat race. Unfortunately, freezing track conditions would force the scheduled heat races to be moved to Saturday afternoon.

When racing resumed on Saturday, Riley charged to a convincing heat race victory, earning him the outside-front-row starting spot alongside Ray Cook for the 75 lap finale. When the race went green, Hickman assumed the point and never looked back, leading flag-to-flag to bag the $11,000 payday over Dale McDowell, Steve Casebolt, Josh Putnam and Anthony Burroughs.

“The conditions definitely played into our hands as our open motor wasn’t ready, so we came here with our steelhead engine,” noted Hickman. “To beat this caliber of competition really means a lot, and again I thank all of my great sponsors, fans, and supporters for help making it happen.”

Full results from the weekend can be found at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com/bonus_index.html .

Hickman now turns his attention to a big East Tennessee weekend, which will see him competing in a pair of $5,000-to-win events. On Friday night, November 21st the Southern All Star Late Model Series will sanction their final event of 2014 at Cleveland Speedway (Cleveland, Tennessee) as Hickman looks to sew up his second straight series title. Saturday, November 22nd will find a $5,000-to-win event, unsanctioned event being contested at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia). He will also compete in the Crate Late Model division at each facility.

Riley Hickman would like to thank all of his sponsors including Hickman Manufacturing Company, American Billet, RH Designs, CVR Race Cars, Austin Trucking, A-1 Towing and Recovery, Competition Racing Equipment, MRC Racing Components, Vic Hill Racing Engines, Performance Masters Inc., All-Star Graphix, Stealth Racing Carburetors, Hoosier Racing Tires, JRI Shocks, VP Race Fuels, Comp Cams, Weld Wheels, FSR Racing Products, Design 500, Fel-Pro, KRC Power Steering, Wiles Racing Drive Shafts, Old Mans Garage, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.

Bub McCool Romps To $5k Payday At Duck River

September 7th, 2008

McCool Motorsports set out to compete in three events over the Labor Day
weekend with the action kicking off on Friday night at Duck River Speedway
in Wheel, Tennessee with the Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late
Model tour. Bub started 6th in the feature event, and early in the race, he
would rocket his way to the lead. Once at the point, McCool would never
look back en route to the $5,000 win. The win marked McCool’s sixth win of
the 2008 season.

On Saturday, the team followed the Southern Regional Racing Series tour to
Thunderhill Speedway in Summertown, Tennessee. Bub would have another
strong qualifying effort and ultimately finished in the 3rd spot in the
feature event.

McCool entered the Labor Day Bash 40 at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia,
Alabama on Sunday night. Bub qualified fourth in his group and started 7th
in the feature event. By lap seven, Bub was already up to the third position
and began pressuring the second place runner as McCool committed to the low
side of the clay oval. On lap 17, things would turn bad for McCool when a
broken lift arm on caused his car to make a strong right in turns three and
four. A couple of cars, left with nowhere to go, piled into the back of
McCool bringing his night to an end. Despite once again having bad luck at
North Alabama, overall it was a great weekend for McCool Motorsports, and
the team is feeling confident heading into the late year special events.

McCool Motorsports will take this weekend off to repair their primary car
from last weekend’s damage. Bub is set to return to action on Saturday,
September 13th at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Mississippi in the $5,000
to win, 14th Annual Ival Cooper Memorial. For more information on the
event, please visit www.JacksonMotorSpeedway.net.

Race fans also, please note that the brand new Bub McCool t-shirts are now
available. To view the shirts, please visit www.BubMcCool.com.
